Bionicle Maori Stuffs

Hello, Readers!
Today I'm going to tell you how the Bionicle language sounds weird.
You see, the (Bionicle) language has to do with the Maori language, one used in New Zealand. Here are some examples. The left of the semi-colon (;) is the Maori (or in one case, Fijian) word. The right of the semi-colon is the Bionicle word.
  • Huki -- hammerstroke, quaking, convulse; Hewkii -- A matoran who used a hammer-like tool. A Toa of Stone.
  • Maku -- wet; Macku -- A Matoran of Water.
  • Puku -- stomach, belly; Pewku -- An Ussal crab.
  • Tohunga -- craftsman, expert; Tohunga -- A small humanoid race which has been changed to Matoran.
  • Toa -- champion; Toa -- The main heroes. See Toa in Bionicle Encyclopedia for more information.
  • Onewa -- basalt; Onewa -- A former Toa of Stone but now a Turaga of Stone.
  • Pohatu -- stone, rock; Pohatu -- A Toa of Stone.
  • Tahu -- burn; Tahu -- A Toa of Fire.
  • Turaga -- chief (Fijian; not Maori); Turaga -- Elders and rulers of six Koro of Mata Nui, then six Metru in Metru Nui.
  • Whenua -- earth; Whenua -- Turaga of Earth and former Toa of Earth.
  • Kanohi -- face; Kanohi -- mask
  • Kopaka -- cold, ice; Kopaka -- Toa of Ice.

This is how Bionicle language got started. Now that solves some problems.

Bionicle Encyclopedia Entry III

Hello,
Here's another Bionicle entry!

Skakdi: [SKAK-dee]
Wild Rahi with brains smart enough to speak the Matoran language. These figures look like evil animals, and most are. They have a humanoid shape, but they have spikes on their backs. They also have vicious smiles.

Known Skakdi are: Avak, Hakann, Reidak, Thok, Vezok, Vezon, and Zaktan.

And there's my (very short) entry.

Bionicle Encyclopedia Post II

Here is another entry from my Bionicle Encyclopedia!

Toa: [Toe-AH]
The heroes of Bionicle. Toa usually come in groups of six, but groups with more or less have been made also.
Known teams of Toa in storyline order (which may not be in actual order) are: Toa Mata (sometimes called Toa Olda; they were the 2001 and 2002 Toa), Toa Kaita (made with the Toa Mata), Toa Nuva (more powerful Toa Mata), Toa Metru, Toa Hordika (mutated versions of the Toa Metru), Toa Inika, Toa Mahri (mutated versions of the Toa Inika), and Toa Phantoka (more powerful versions of the Toa Nuva; sometimes called Toa Newva).
Known Toa in order of storyline are: Tahu, Gali, Lewa, Pohatu, Kopaka, Onua, Akamai, Whairua, Tahu Nuva, Gali Nuva, Lewa Nuva, Pohatu Nuva, Kopaka Nuva, Onua Nuva, Vakama, Nokama, Matau, Onewa, Nuju, Whenua, (skipping over the Toa Hordika because they are the same as the Toa Metru) Jaller, Hahli, Kongu, Hewkii, Matoro, Nuparu, (skipping over the Toa Mahri because they are the same thing as the Inika) Lewa Phantoka, Pohatu Phantoka, and Kopaka Phantoka.

And to think that that whole paragraph was one full sentence!

Notice: The Toa Olda and Toa Newva were names given by Bionicle fans. Most of those were also members of the http://bzpower.com/ website.

Bye!

Bionicle Encyclopedia Post I

Dear readers of this blog,
I have decided to take literalminded's advice and post some random thingies from my Bionicle Encyclopedia. If you do not know what Bionicle is, then go to http://bioniclestory.com/, go to story overview, and you should get the main idea from there. Here is my first post!

Mata Nui:
[1]: The great spirit who created everything in Bionicle. Usually called "The Great Spirit," Mata Nui is the legendary belief of all Toa. Mata Nui was a very important being in the 2006 and 2007 storylines. You see, he was dying, even though the Toa thought that he was just asleep, and that Makuta, his brother, wanting revenge, was the culprit. They sent out Toa to find the legendary Mask of Life and restore Mata Nui to his life, but the Toa who they sent, the Toa Nuva, utterly failed. Six Matoran searched for the Toa, got turned into Toa Inika themselves, and tried to get their hands on the Mask of Life for the same purpose as the Toa Nuva. They then went underwater, and got turned into Toa Mahri. Mata Nui still ceases to be awakened, and, because of that, the Bionicle world is still engulfed in shadow.
[2]: The island that the Toa Metru found to put the Matoran in.

And that wraps up the Bionicle entry!

Bye!

P.S. Credit to literalminded for the idea of this.
